Bed bugs come from the insect group known as the Cimicidae. Their survival depends upon ample amounts of warm blooded bodies in order for them to feed. From gases emitted from the human body the bed bugs will seek out and intercept unsuspecting sleeping individuals like ourselves and even on animals where they will insert their feeding tube and drink their fill of the warm blood. These bugs feed at night, mostly when the subject is sleeping. Most bedbug attracts have been spotted in the early morning hours between 3 and 5 in the morning. The bed bug will inject an anesthetic and an anti coagulant in order to num the area and thin the blood for easy digestion. As I said before even though the bed bugs feed on a live preferably human host for blood, they do not spread or cause disease as far as science can tell us at this point in time. Certainly, they do cause much discomfort and potential scaring in many cases.

Many people want to know how to identify the infestation when you have bed bugs. Probably the first indication will be small round bite marks on your body the size of a dime. These bite marks will appear after you have slept on a sofa or bed that has been infested with bed bugs. However, in some cases, bed bug bite marks may not be seen right away. It could be a few hours or a few days before they become visible. Some people will never see the signs of bed bug bights. The bed bug bight do not leave marks on some people and they will never know they were bitten.

Bite marks are in sets of three and form a design as the three marks move together in a straight line. It is thought that the design comes from the insects moving around other bites. Visually the bites are flat or raised a bit and the color of them can be bright red or pink.

Bed bug bite can be treated with over the counter medications such as antihistamines or steroid cream to lessen the itching and burning the bites cause. If you itch and scratch your bites, scarring may appear and infection could set in. It is always a good idea to consult a physician with any medical concerns.

It is imperative that you attack any bed bug infestation as soon as possible to limit the amount of exposure and the extent of the infestation. Bed bug will multiply very fast. One bed bud can lay hundreds of eggs per month and if left untreated can overwhelm a home in a matter of just a few weeks.

There are several products on the market designed to control bed bugs. Do your research and choose wisely. You can always call a professional pest inspector for an evaluation. Typically a bed bug pest inspector will run from $200 to $3,000.00 depending on the severity of the problem. There are several all natural products on the market that are very effective against bed bugs. Again do your research and always ask for a money back guarantee on any purchase. A good return policy will give you a better idea of how the product works.
