We are, and have been in an era of trying to get back to healthier living through diets, exercise, and organic products. One of these natural substances is diatomaceous earth. For those who are not familiar with diatomaceous earth, it is a natural solution that can be used for several things but recently it is being used for people on a daily basis for a large variety of ailments. What is diatomaceous earth and how does it work in the body? Diatoms are aged underwater algae consisting of silica. Actually, they are crushed shells or extremely tiny sponges that catch particles with a filter-like process. That is exactly how it works in your body. It gets rid of poisons and cleans a body’s organs by letting harmful substances pass through your body chemically free.

Over the years our soil has become lessened of a substance that was once plentiful in our diet. That substance is silica and with its declining appearance in our diets we only consume about one third of the suggested silica per day. However, diatomaceous earth replenishes over sixty percent of the silica to our bodies. A great benefit of silica is it works to eliminate unhealthy fats. Not only is this natural remedy good for us but our pets can benefit from it too.

You should do some research on the subject because it has such a wide variety of uses. Health benefits from diatomaceous earth are many. It is best when used on an everyday basis. DE helps control many body systems such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney disease, inflammatory diseases such as arthritis and many more. It is certainly worth taking a look at if you haven’t already.

Food grade diatomaceous earth is safe for you and your pets, but it is deadly to a wide variety of insects. If you have an insect problem in your home you can eliminate the nasty critters without worrying about dangerous chemicals hurting your family. DE’s abrasive quality slashes away at an insect’s exoskeleton leaving them to dehydrate and die. It can be sprinkled the inside and outside your home controlling insects.

Another insect that has been plaguing the planet for centuries is the all familiar bed bug. Bedbugs are notorious for infesting homes, schools and large apartment buildings around the world. With the increase in world travel, the bed bugs out breaks have increased to epidemic proportions with no end in sight. Diatomaceous earth and sodium lauryl sulfate are two of the all natural products used to control bed bugs with very much success. It is said to be a preferred method of bed bug control among the green community.
